If you’re looking to make a bit of extra income, you might be interested in a site I came across recently. You won’t be taking early retirement with what you earn, but it’s a way to earn some beer money whilst also contributing to academic research. Prolific.ac connects researchers with participants: as a participant you sign up, answer some initial screening questions, and then wait for surveys that you’re eligible for to pop up. The previous link contains a referral code that gives me a small benefit if you choose to join and participate. If you would prefer a plain link, click here: Prolific.ac.
Each survey tells you roughly how long it’s expected to take, and how much you’ll be compensated for your time. The surveys I’ve seen have ranged from a few minutes up to 20 minutes, and from £0.50 to £2.00. Once you’ve accumulated £5, you can cash out to your PayPal account.
I signed up to Prolific less than a week ago and have done 10 surveys, which has netted me £7.40. Not a huge sum, but when you consider that all I’ve had to do to get that is switch from procrastinating on Reddit to filling out surveys, then it’s not a bad deal. A nice bonus is that many of the surveys are actually very interesting!
